Getting a D-U-N-S number for Apple and Google Play

Why you need a D-U-N-S number

Apple asks for a D-U-N-S number when you enroll as an organization; it’s how Apple confirms your company exists. Google Play also requires one for organization accounts.

With an organization account the store shows your company name instead of a personal name, which builds trust with users.

Who can get one

• Limited liability companies and other legal entities.
• Sole proprietors (YaTT in Uzbekistan). My own app, Mudarris AI, is on the App Store under my sole proprietorship this way.

What information is needed

• The official organization name, exactly as on the registration certificate, in Latin letters.
• Legal address and phone number.
• Name and title of the director or contact person.
• Registration certificate.

These details must match what you later give Apple and Google letter for letter. This is where most applications get rejected, so I fill everything in correctly from the start.

The process

1. I check whether your organization already has a D-U-N-S number.
2. If not, I apply through Apple’s official D-U-N-S request form.
3. Dun & Bradstreet verifies the details and may contact you.
4. Once issued, we wait for the number to reach Apple’s and Google’s systems.
5. Then we move on to opening your organization accounts.

Timeline and cost

Through Apple the D-U-N-S number is free. It usually arrives within a few business days, though verification sometimes takes longer. My service fee is agreed separately.
